After easing a bit, a November cold spell reasserted itself on this date in 1976 as the temperature in Philadelphia fell officially to 26 and a trace of snow was reported.
The temperature also reached the freezing mark on the next five consecutive days.
In all, temperatures at the airport hit 32 or lower on 17 days, bottoming out at 15 on Nov. 30, foreshadowing one of the coldest winters on record.
