With snow in the forecast, today we take note of Dec. 5, 2002, when 7.0 inches of snow fell officially in Philadelphia, a record for the date.
The snow fell evenly throughout the region, with just about all locations reporting the same amounts. Although it was a daytime, workday storm, it was not terribly disruptive.
To demonstrate the quirkiness of snowfall, although heavy snows have fallen during November, the record for a Dec. 2 is a mere 0.8 inches, set in 1890.
