The weekend that matured off the New England coast ended up becoming an impressive wind event, but still left Philadelphia looking for its first measurable snow of the season.
Light accumulations were reported by spotters in some suburbs, however only a “trace” was observed at the airport.
An Alberta Clipper swinging across the country from western Canada is expected to pass just to our south could produce a nuisance snow tomorrow afternoon.
Meteorologists are showing no respect for it, describing it as weak and “moisture starved,” but it looks like it could take just the right path to swipe Philadelphia with a dash of snow.
Only one winter in the period of record, which dates to the 1870s, failed to produce any measurable snow. That was the winter of 1972-73.
A decade ago, with winter of 1997-98 gave it a run for its money, but officially 0.8 inches was measured at the airport. The annual average is about 20.
