Verlander Tries for Two

werth%20yeah.jpgCan the Phillies hit Justin Verlander?

He threw a no-hitter Tuesday against the Milwaukee Brewers at Comerica Park, and he tries for another this afternoon at Citizens Bank Park. He hit 102 mph on the radar gun in the ninth inning Tuesday, although I'm always skeptical of radar guns. Here at the Bank the gun will show a 90 mph fastball and on the TV broadcast it sometimes will register at 94. Regardless, Verlander was throwing hard in the ninth and the Phillies have their work cut out for them.

The Phillies beat the Detroit Tigers last night, 6-3. They can win the series with a victory today, and coupled with a New York Mets loss against the New York Yankees can move within a game of first place in the National League East.

This is a big one.
