I made it.
My luggage made it, too. That's always a trick when flying US Airways.
Phillies pitchers and catchers open camp Thursday, but many already have arrived like Cole Hamels and Adam Eaton. So have position players like Pat Burrell, Chase Utley and Chris Coste. (Coste's book comes out March 18, by the way. Random House is the publisher and it sounds like they're going to promote the hell out of it.)
Phillies officials, including coaches, have been in meetings the entire day, so there's not much action going on here. But I promise to try to come up with something entertaining every day.
Or at least mildly entertaining.
Or maybe just informative, but you get the idea. I'll try.

Thanks to the suggestions from renaming The Zo Zone. I have notified The Powers That Be what my favorite name is.
Hopefully we'll have an announcement soon.

OK, I'll start the abuse...
Pitchers and catchers report on Thursday. So what's Adam Eaton doing there? Parking cars?
(Sorry, couldn't help it.)

Todd, I can understand them wanting to change the name of the blog, but let's say you were actually struck in the head by a fly ball, the way the powers-that-be fear... Can the name be changed back to something with your name in memoriam? Maybe "The Todd Zolecki Memorial Blog"?

I think more ppl should be on the Chris Coste bandwagon, he is an individual that understands what the game is about. He loves the game, works hard, gets knocked down then gets up and exemplifies loyalty. I truly think he is guy that could become an elder statesman type of leader in the absence of Rowand. Gotta love a guy that is 33 years old and still shows up early at camp.
No negativity from me today, hell may even take the wife to clearwater for a few days.
Lets go Phillies!

Truth, who isn't on the Coste bandwagon? I think he should be the everyday catcher!
I'll be in Clearwater 3/20-3/23. Maybe I'll see you there. LOL!
And congrats on the *positive* post!

Ditto on the Coste point. The only people who apparently weren't on his bandwagon last year was... oh yeah, the Phillies. They preferred to keep trotting out Barajas (can you believe I almost couldn't even rememeber his name!?) for us. And didn't they pay him somwthing like $3 million?? Man that has to burn Coste's arse.
The front office needs to wake up to what brings people down to the ballpark (besides the ballaprk itself, that is), and that's players you want to cheer for. The Phillies have a bunch of them for once, and they should stand up, pay Chris Coste a decent salary for at least one season in his career, and I for one will be down there cherring him and the rest of the boys on.
Let's go Phils!

Yeah, the Barajas move didn't make sense last year, unless they didn't think Ruiz was ready.
I like Ruiz for about 100-110 games behind the plate and Coste for the other 50-60. I really like having Coste and Dobbs to come off the bench to pinch hit late in games.
Adam Eaton is pitching a simulated game against the Clearwater Elementary School 2nd grade all-stars on Friday. He looked really good throwing BP to the local YMCA's pre-school program on Sunday so the team feels he's ready to step up a level.
