The Zo Zone has been very successful since we launched in April.
In fact, it's one of the most popular blogs at philly.com.
Maybe in the entire world.
Thank you.
But The Powers That Be have asked me to rename the blog. Why? Because The Zo Zone doesn't exactly scream, "It's a Phillies blog! It's a Phillies blog!" But because I couldn't come up with anything I liked, I'm asking you. What should we call this thing? So please post your suggestions here. I'll pick the winner. Of course, there's one catch: the word "Phillies" must be in the title. Now I know that's going to hurt the creativity aspect of this contest, but thems the rules.
Putting "Phillies" in the title accomplishes two things:
1) It makes the blog easier to find on search engines and draws more traffic to the site. That's important because I get a buck for every hit. OK, I get nothing, but I'm a team player so let's make it happen.
2) If I get hit in the head with a foul ball and go into a coma, the blog lives on without me. In other words, we can't have Joe Shmoe authoring The Zo Zone ... although, I hear he does fine work.
The prize for the winner(s)?

I think you should go with "The Phillies Badger." It has a double meaning. You are from Wisconsin [the Badger State], so it identifies you. And, "badger" as a verb means to "urge persistently" which is kinda what journalists do.

Sounds like you're on the way out, just kidding. Is Joe Shmoe related to Joe Shmuckatelli? I like the "Zo Zone" but understand the reason for the change. Maybe you should change your name to "Phil". I think you do a great job with the blog and write articles that get the phans commenting. You should ask for a dollar for every blog entry! Anyway here are a few suggestions:

When I was a struggling young baseball writer (I think the batter could call for a high or low pitch then), my Phillies notes at the Delco paper were called "Phil Dirt." Don't know why but I liked that. Probably because I thought it up. Doesn't work with "Phillies," of course, so kind of useless to bring it up here.

How about either Phillies Phlatulance or Phillies Dairy. The first symbolizes the fact that much blogging, and the comments that follow, are really just bad gas being emitted, and the second pays homage to your roots.

More importantly, what is the deal with Benson? Thought the Phils were trying to get it done before teams saw him throw again Saturday. Did he end up throwing? The dead silence either means serious talks are ongoing, or we got scared away by a 1-year, $1 million dollar offer with incentives. Please don't say it's the latter.

If you want something that people can find, anything with Britney Spears or Alycia Lane in the title should work.
To minimize the gag factor, I'd stay away from the "Ph" that sounds like an "f", which includes (but is not limited to) words like Phodder, Philes and ... did somebody say Phlegm?
I think Phillies Inqlings sounded pretty good.

I'll second the guy who wrote "Phillies Phan ZOne", or maybe "Phillies Phan Zone" with a lower case "o". I've seen Phillies Phodder elsewhere, so the name's taken.
If you absolutely have to incorporate your name into the blog (a little ego is good), you could always go with Phillies ZoPhanlecki or Tophillies Phanlecki. Both have a certain ring to them, but may not actually draw more fans to the site.

You go above and beyond the call of duty by putting up a blog AND a podcast, in addition to your standard coverage, and your reward is...having your name knocked off the brand you've built from the ground up?

At any rate, my vote's with Phillies Bull/Pen, or Phillies Bluntly if you can get it past management.
Just stay away from all the Zo-Phillies combos. They sound too much like "zoophilia" -- which you will *definitely* not be able to slip past the suits.

I'm no tech geek, but I'm pretty sure having Phillies in the name of the blog won't boost search-engine results anyway. As long as Phillies is somewhere on the page, or even in the meta data, the engines will find it. Google will rank it depending on how many other Web sites link to it. So if you want to boost your Google rank, have every other blog on philly.com link to it and encourage other blogs/sites to do so as well.
