The North Wildwood city council has approved a plan for a $175 million hotel-and-waterpark resort that would create 400 year-round, permanent jobs, the Philadelphia Business Journal reports. The 16-story hotel between 21st and 22nd streets, to be developed by WB Resorts Development, would include 425 rooms and a 90,000-square-foot indoor waterpark on the beach called Seaport Village Pier. The resort is slated to open in 2010. Corrected July 20th.

I'm PR counsel for WB Resorts, and we are thrilled to see the project so well received so far. Just one minor inaccuracy that crept into the BizJournal's coverage of the project, and therefore was quoted here...

Seaport Pier (actually Seaport Village Pier) was the name of the defunct shopping mall development on the pier that will be replaced by the pirate-themed indoor waterpark portion of our planned resort. While the artist renderings have given the park a working name, maybe blog readers have some ideas for a good, pirate-and-treasure themed name for the park? No promises, of course, but maybe it would be fun to see what creative juices can get flowing?

Thanks!

Was this resort ever built?

Melissa:

Did this ever open?

Daveed:

Definately not.

the idea is super, but I still prefer the outdoor water parks.
