Mack's in Wildwood. Here's the view out from the counter. Mack's is related to Mack and Manco in Ocean City, which many a shore wag counts as the best, but I've had both recently, and there's no comparison. Mack's is the uncle's place, it predates Mack and Manco's by a few years and is going on 55 years in Wildwood. It's a similar kind of pizza, thin crust, same family, but I think what sets it apart is the sauce. It was just tastier at Mack's. Here's a website with some more history and great old photos of Mack's (it's a descendant of Anthony and Lena Macaroni's tomato pie in Trenton) . I'm sure there must be other contenders in the category of great Boardwalk pizza, offer them up if you please, but I'm also pretty sure Mack's is tops. Worth the trip.

Most of the boardwalk pizza is overpriced and tasteless. For my money and taste it is Uncle Oogies tomato pie in Sea Isle City. Also, I agree..it has NEVER been "Downashore."

Matt:
I did NOT name this blog. I inherited it. But, if you google downashore, you do find a fair number of references, including on such authentic philly sites as 700level.com, so i think it's a defensible alternate folksy version of down the shore. but it does seem to irritate a lot of people.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Mack & Manco's on the OC, NJ Boardwalk. Wish I could have a slice now. It's been years. Gotta go!

Amy, will have to disagree. Mack and Manco's in OC by a mile.

I'm going to go with the "down the shore," as using the Google method you suggested brings up the fact that after the many references from this blog, the authentic 700level.com usage seems to be on a message board and not on the official site itself. In all honesty, no one I know from the area says "downashore," and I just think it sounds more like a lazy uneducated slang term, rather than the quirky regionalism when all three words are pronounced separately.

My family and kids all love Macks. We have to have it on every trip to Wildwood and have for many years. "downashore" is just a blog name and nothing to get so upset about. I must add that I know many people in Philly that say it like that, including myself. I am neither lazy or uneducated. It's just a silly term.
