Tuesdays in Philly can be a lot like Mondays. There are not a lot of people out and most places are closed. If you are looking for a place to hear some good music and maybe get to do a little dancing, your choices are very slim. But one place that is a safe bet on Tuesdays is the Walnut Room(17th & Walnut St.), where you can find DJ Skeme Richards creating the perfect vibe.
Skeme is a veteran Philly DJ with 25 years of knowledge in hiphop, funk and soul. Since he became a member of the legendary Rock Steady Crew, you can find him playing at b-boy events and nightclubs around the globe.
I decided to ask him a few questions:
Describe your style?
Very Eclectic, I’m into everything from Funk, Soul, Classics, and Hip Hop to Jazz and Easy Listening. I try to keep things very funky and soulful.
What is the rarest record you own?
Rare is overrated because one man's rare is another man's average in his crate. But to be honest with you, I have two copies of Incredible Bongo Bands Apache on 45 w/ the picture sleeve. To date I haven’t met any other dj who has it or knew about it for that matter, even DJ Cash Money was like "you've got one up on me with that one"
