The Monday Night Social

almarob.jpg

Most Monday nights in Philly there usually isn't much happening. If you're lucky, maybe there is a bar with a nice little crowd to hang at or maybe the Balcony is playing something good for Movie Mondays. But every once in a while there something really big that is really worth the night out. Tonight is one of those nights!

If you make your way down to Fluid nightclub(4th & South St.), you can check out a great party called The Social. Every month djs Dirty, Venus 7, and The Baraness bring you a night of soulful house music. Tonight's party is extra special because they are bringing two of Philly's top musical exports, Lady Alma and DJ Rob Paine.

For those that don't know, Lady Alma is a soul singer unlike any other today. She has the same type of vocal power you would get from Jocelyn Brown or Chaka Khan. For the past few years, she has been releasing a steady stream of dance floor filling tunes with artists such as King Britt, 4 Hero, Mark de Clive Lowe, and more. And lets not forget DJ Rob Paine, who has made a name for himself internationally as a house and reggae dj. With his record labels Worship Records and Shakedown, he has recorded and released some classic "dub-house" tracks. These two together should prove to be the perfect combination to get things wild on the dance floor.
