DJ Nights 8-17-07

Another week comes to an end and it's time to dance your cares away. Here are some best bets for places to hang out this weekend. There are a bunch of choices, so support as many events as you can!




Friday

The Zodiac @ Medusa (21st & Chestnut) - Dj Roxy and Nex Millen play hiphop, reggae, & more. Leo's get in free. Special guests DJ Caliph-Now and Dj Razor Ramon keep the party jumping.


Tidal Wave @ M Room (Frankford & Girard Ave.) - a hiphop show featuring Tidal Wave(Adam 12 & Tarp), Johnny X, and DJ Panek.


Game Over @ Level Room(21st & Market St.) - Dance music and 80's video games at Philly's newest night spot. DJ Brendan and Si Young on the wheels.


Basement Soul @ Xochitl (408 S 2nd St) - Djs lil'dave(me) and Junior from Eavesdrop Radio take turns playing a mix of afro-latin grooves, soul, funk, & acid jazz in the downstairs lounge.


Solomonic SoundSystem @ Bubble House(34th & Sansom St.) - West Philly's best place to party and one of Philly's top reggae soundsystems come together.


Professional Relaxation @ Penthouse (460 N. 2nd St.) - Extreme grown and sexyness hosted by "Rip" Hamilton of The Detroit Pistons and music by DJ Excel and DJ Flow.


F**K What You Heard @ 700 Club(700 N. 2nd St.) - One of Northern Liberties' favorite hang out spots gets live with DJ Opal Rock.


Mr. 10 Fingers @ Silk City(5th & Spring Garden) - The "Better then basic cable" dj brings his sound to Silk City.



Saturday

Philly Urban Legends @ Liquid Charm(1207 Race St.) - Innermission215 presents a hiphop show featuring Baby Blak, Electric City, Scandal, Drac and more.


Tasty Treats w/special guest Q-tip @ Fluid(613 S. 4th St) - Q-tip from A Tribe Called Quest will be dropping a guest dj set and author Brian Coleman will be celebrating the release of his new book Check the Technique.


Mojito @ Moshulu(401 South Columbus Blvd.) - This weeks special guest DJ Justin Paul from Play Loop Records plays along with DJ Lucas Rivera and DJ Brendan.


Roll Call @ M Room (Frankford & Girard Ave.) - Emynd & Bo Bliz team up with Baltimore's DJ Dave Nada to keep you dancing to baltimore club, mash-ups, hiphop and reggae up in Northern Liberties.


Fusion @ Solo Nightclub(520 N Delaware Ave) - Multiple rooms of music w/ DJ Venus 7, Christian James, Thomas Fultron, and AJ Clay playing Deep House and top 40.


The Duplex @ Arts Garage (1520 Parrish St) - Illvibe Collective plays an exciting mix hiphop, funk, soul, house, afrobeat, latin, and reggae in a venue that is an alternative to the normal Philly club scene. Expect to party late into the night.


Saturday's @ Xochitl(409 S 2nd St) - Each week djs Botany 500 and Rehab take turns playing a mix of afro-latin grooves, soul, funk, & acid jazz in the downstairs lounge.


DJ Frosty @ Silk City(5th & Spring Garden) - DJ Frosty keeps plays everything from hiphop to latin in order to keep you dancing.



Sunday

Sundae @ Bubble House (3402 Sansom St) - DJ Lee Jones and DJ Dirty present an afternoon party(3pm-9pm) for lovers of soulful house music. Local and international guest each week. Special Guest dj Oji from Baltimore.


Lee Jones & Friends @ Swanky Bubbles(10 S. Front st) - Lee Jones keeps the house music going into the night at this Old City hot spot. No Cover and complimentary sushi at midnight seal the deal.


Fast, Cheap, & Out of Control! @ Fluid (4th St. btw South & Bainbridge) - Rock, punk and glam with DJ Major Wood. I won't give anything away, but I'll say this is definitely a party for the wild and freaky people.

The Strawberry Mansion DJs @ Silk City(5th & Spring Garden) - These will keep your Sunday moving with a mixture of Indie, Rap, 80s Mashups, Hyphy, Old School, Electro, Dancehall, B-More Club and Go-Totally-Wild Hits.



Monday(special mention)

Monday Night Social @ Fluid (4th St. btw South & Bainbridge) - Soulful house music on a Monday night is a great way to start the week. A performance by soul singer Lady Alma and a special dj set by Rob Paine make it even better.
