Weekend Party Picks:

This is a pretty heavy weekend for all the party people. Some pretty huge events are taking place. Let me take a few minutes and give you the run down of some of the best bets.

Friday: If you are an alumni of the Hollertronix parties or you are just in need of a wild booty shaking night of partying, there is a triple header tonight. Fluid Nightclub has Baltimore house music legend DJ Technics dropping b-more club tracks at the Let Me Ride party. At the same time, MC Spankrock and the BBC crew taking time out from their international travels to invade the newly reopened Silk City. It's gonna be a tough choice, but whatever you choose you can be sure that both crowds will come together at the Arts Garage for the White T's White Belt party to dance the rest of the night away.

Saturday: If you love soul music like I do, then this a great night for you. Earlier in the evening Maryland based afro-soul band Fertile Ground will be on stage at World Cafe Live. If you have never seen them perform before, expect a danceable and spiritual mixture of afrobeat, jazz, and funk. The after party is taking palace at the Art Garage where Philly's Illvibe Collective DJs and DJ Chicken George from Austin, Texas are celebrating the release of the SWED.U.S.H. CONNECTION VOL. 2 EP. Also at Fluid, there is a listening party for Common's new album "Finding Forever" at Tasty Treats with DJ Mike Nyce on the turntables.

Sunday: On the seventh day, let it rest. After a long weekend of club hopping, it's always good to spend Sunday afternoon cooling out at the Bubble House in University City. Every Sunday afternoon from 3pm-9pm they host the Sundae party with DJs Lee Jones, Dirty, and guest djs from all over the world. It's the perfect spot to relax, listen to some soulful house music, and sip on a sake sangria.
