The Rub comes to Philly

Years ago, Monday nights at Fluid was the place to be each week. Djs Cosmo Baker and Rich Medina used to drive people into a frenzy with a mix of hiphop and funk jams. Their party, the Remedy, went on hiatus after about a five or six year run and Cosmo headed to New York. In Brooklyn, Cosmo hooked up with guys who threw The Rub at Southpaw and eventually became part of the crew.

The Rub crew consist of DJ Ayres, DJ Eleven, and of course, Cosmo Baker. Musically, the approach is all about hiphop and classic tunes. As it has progressed, they have incorporated a deeper selection of funk, house, reggae, disco, 80s, and rock into the mix. This party has maintained it's position as one of New York's best parties over the past few years. And it doesn't just stop there. The Rub crew has gone on to getting props in publications like Village Voice & The Fader, releasing tons of critically acclaimed mixtapes, and touring around the globe.

This Friday these guys are coming into town to tear it down at Cosmo's old stomping ground, Fluid Nightclub. I think it's a safe bet that this will be a night to remember.
