This week has been very busy with some big names stopping into town. But, things are just getting warmed up. Here are some big events worth checking out.
Turn your radio's on! WKDU' 91.7FM's Electronic Music Marathon celebrates its 10th year of helping local charities. This year they are raising money for Philadelphia Fight, an AIDS service organization. Tune in all weekend (Oct. 18-21) to hear over 40 of the city's best electronic djs playing house, drum & bass, techno, etc. (Catch my set from 7pm-8pm)
Our good friends over at Red Bull always seem to come up with some really innovative ways to get the public's attention. Friday October 19th they present Red Bull Art of Can at the F.U.E.L. Collection (3rd & Arch St.). Artists and sculptures from all over have created some amazing works using Red Bull cans as their medium. More details at http://www.redbullartofcan.com/.
Over in Old City is Sneakers & Pumps at Gigi Lounge (319 Market Street). It's an old school hiphop party hosted by Rock Ya Dance, a dance scene networking organization. Music by DJ Skipmode and DJ Tony East.
Philly favorites Rich Medina and Christian James will be playing at Level Room (2102 Market St.) for the Merge party this Saturday. Expect it be a serious soulful house throwdown with Philly's grown and sexy crowd.
Also on Saturday October 20th, MSTRKRFT will be stopping by Transit as part of their current tour. They are part of a new generation of dance music artist that follow in the footsteps of Daft Punk and Chemical Brothers. If that is your type of thing, don't miss French sensation J.U.S.T.I.C.E. at the Trocadero on Sunday night. But good luck finding a ticket. I hear it's sold out.
To all fans of the Sundae party at the Bubble House in West Philly, please note that starting this Sunday October 21st it will be taking place at La Veranda (3 N. Columbus Blvd.) for rest of the fall season. Dae Records founder DJ Aaron Dae is back in town from Chicago to drop a special set of house bangers.
