You have a case of the Mondays! Weekends are just too short. Nothing is worse then hanging out all night during the weekend and then all of a sudden having to get up at 6am to make the commute to work. That transition is just too drastic and the dull work day that follows only makes it worse. If your plan for the night is to just go home and watch the latest episode of "Heroes", then you are in for a rough week. You need to get out the house and do something! Here are a few options.
One sure shot way to make your Monday interesting is to head over to the Balcony (upstairs at the Trocadero) on 10th and Arch Street for Movie Mondays. Each week they play the best (and sometimes the worst) of what Hollywood has to offer on their big screen. Depending on the movie, you will sometimes find the bartends and movie goers dressed as their favorite character, which can sometimes make the night slightly bizarre (check out what happened when they showed He-Man: The Movie). As an added bonus, the ultra cheap cover includes a drink or snack. Tonight movie is 28 Weeks Later, so get those zombie costumes out. Doors open at 6pm and the movie starts at 8pm.
Over at the Manhattan Room aka the M-Room(15 W Girard Ave.), it's Dysfunctional Family Night. Basically the setup there is a pile of board games, a jukebox, and a bar. A few glasses of Lionshead and a couple rounds of scrabble with some complete strangers sounds more fun then falling asleep while watching "Chuck".
If you really feel that only way to get the work day stress out of your system is to dance your blues away, then head over to Silk City(5th & Spring Garden) for Back 2 Basics with King Britt and Dozia. The music is great, the dance floor is always jumping and the live band is band funky. Tonight they are having a release party for DJ Junior's new compilation Excursions. You can't lose.
