Jazzanova celebrates 10 years of Sonar Kollectiv Records.

Sonar Kollectiv is 10 years old. The Berlin-based record label has been pushing the boundaries of modern music for a decade and has no plans of stopping anytime soon. Sonar Kollectiv was formed back in 1998 by the dj/producer team known as Jazzanova. The music they released has blurred the lines between soul, techno, hiphop, jazz, broken beat, and yes ...even folk music.

To celebrate their anniversary, they are having the Sonar Kollectiv Festival in Berlin throughout the month of October. Some of their biggest names, like Ame, Clara Hill, Wahoo, Micatone, and others, will be performing at various venues across the German city. If you just so happen to be in Germany over the next week, I suggest checking it out (here are the listings). If you are elsewhere in the world, you are still in luck because Alex Barck of Jazzanova and Roland Appel of Truby Trio are bringing the Sonar Kollectiv sound to a city near you.

These two heavyweight djs are coming into Philly tonight to get things real crazy at Fluid Nightclub (which has been hosting a bunch of the world’s best djs lately). Worship Records' main man, Rob Paine, will provide an opening set earlier in the night. If you are new to Jazzanova, Truby Trio, and the Sonar Kollectiv sound, then expect tonight to change the way you think about music!
