October is shaping up to be a huge month for Philly nightlife. There are a bunch of heavyweight events in the line up for the next few weeks. Some of the biggest and best djs from around the world are gearing up for tour dates in our city. The local promoters and djs are pulling out all the stops to take their parties to the next level.
This Friday is First Fridays, which means people are out in droves looking for fun things to do. After finishing your wine and cheese at your favorite art gallery, you may happen to feel the need to get on a hot sweaty dance floor. If that's the case, then head over to Fluid(4th & South St.) for Let Me Ride, a nice little party thrown by djs Art Cuebik, DJ Breakdown, Kevin Kong and hosted by Illy Emcee. These guys are wide open when it comes to music and they will play anything that gets the crowd dancing intensely. In the house this month they have special guest Noisemachine of Designer Drugs who will be dropping a set of electro bangers. No cover all night, so you can't lose.
If you are seeking something in more of a live show setting, then you may want to head over the Trocadero(1003 Arch St.) for the Sneaker Pimps event. No... This has nothing to do with actual sneakers(actually it's a sneaker life style show... oops!), real live pimps, or even the music group that made the classic "Spin Spin Sugar". It's actually a showcase of live performers and djs. On the bill are Texas hiphop legends UGK(not on the bill anymore), Queens rappers Capone-N-Norega, local hiphop/rock outfit Nouveau Riche, nyc hipster dj OxyCottontail, Dj Brendan Bring'em and others. It should prove to be an interesting mixture of music.
