Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings save our soul.

I have been a Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings fan for years now. That is fact that every Dap Kings fan can be proud to mention, especially since the rest of the world is finally starting to catch on. After some the band member did session work and played as backing band for Amy Winehouse, the Dap King's 60s funk/northern soul sound began to win over the mainstream.

They aren't just some jam band that happens to do Motown covers. They are totally authentic with their music and presentation. So authentic that they record everything analog on to reel to reel tape and they press up all of their single on vinyl 45s. Their stage show is a total throwback the era they love, a front woman belting out powerful souldrenched vocals while being backed by a group of sharply dress musicians who play loose dirty funk with military precision. If you have ever seen old footage of James Brown, Ike & Tina Turner, or Archie Bell and the Drells performing in their heyday, then you know what a Dap Kings show is like.

Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings will be performing at the Filmore at the TLA (4th & South St.) this Friday December 14th. You will hate yourself in the morning if you miss this!

Here is their new video 100 Days, 100 Nights....
