This is a photo of the Macedonian Special Forces soldier I spoke with. The photo is courtesy of Boban Mecka, a good friend of mine, that is a civillian contractor in Taji.

Nick Ilievski:

God bless you!

The Republic of Macedonia is and aspirant for full membership to NATO and a candidate for full membership to EU and involved in the NATO and EU peace-keeping operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Afghanistan and Iraq with a total of 4% of its standing professional army (Greece, member of NATO is with 0,1%), without preconditions or prerequisites, without being full fledged member of the said organizations.

Interim Accord between Hellenic Republic and Republic of Macedonia.
New York, 13 September 1995

Article 11
1. Upon entry into force of this Interim Accord, The Party of the First Part (Greece) agrees not to object to the application by or the membership of the Party of the Second Part (Macedonia) in international, multilateral and regional organizations and institutions of which the Party of the First Part (Greece) is a member.

Today, Greece threatens to veto the application of the Republic of Macedonia to NATO and EU, even under the provisional name (FYROM) as set forth in the Interim Accord and the SC resolution 817 (1993).

The veto threat is in direct violation of the said Accord and the relevant SC resolutions. It is a show of might over right, and contrary to good-neighborly relations, cooperation, despite the full support of the membership by all other NATO member states.
